Alice Freeman Palmer was a popular educator at Wellesley College from 1882-87.  After she died in 1902,  Daniel Chester French was asked to create this stirring memorial to honor her legacy.  Here we see Alma Mater guiding a graduate into the future, while passing the Greek-style grave of Ms. Palmer.
